On our trip to Hendersonville, NC we chose not to have a car to get around. Only mode of transportation were Ubers and walking.
We didn't have many options to go out into nature but we were only 3.9 miles from Jump Off Rock Overlook.
Walking to Jump Off Rock Overlook would take 90+ minutes and would be dangerous. It is an uphill walk on a winding road without any sidewalks. So the only way to go up and down would be an Uber.
We spent 6 nights and 7 days in Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains from Nov. 16 to Nov. 22. We had 7 black bear sightings. Some of these sightings had more than one bear. One time we saw a family of bears - Momma bear and her 4 cubs.
All we did was drive around Gatlinburg, walk around town and do our nature trails without actively looking for black bears and we saw them 7 different times.
In fact we saw more black bears than any other wild life combined!
Now let me tell you how we got to see so many black bears...
2020 edition of St. Pete Pier is finally opened. The previous iteration of the pier was The Inverted Pyramid opened to in 1973. In 2013 it was closed for a new pier. 8 years later, 2021, the new pier opens to the public. It actually re-opened in 2020 but we just visited at the end of 2021. Is it better or not than what it was?
I hooked up jumper cables to Stacey's car. Few minutes later we tried to start it. Nothing. "Maybe the battery is dead." But something felt off. The cables felt small and light. It was hard to even get good contact from the battery. Turns out it didn't matter. Nothing we did would of started the car.
For 5 days straight I wore the same pair of boots. On our trip to Hendersonville, North Carolina we did not rent a car but instead decided to experience the life of a small town entirely on foot (with some Ubers). Get to know the people, talk to the locals, walk their neighborhoods. Because we wanted to walk everywhere, we needed a good pair of durable and comfortable shoes. Onto Shoe Carnival we went.
In 2020 we stocked up on essential foods for the pandemic. We must have had 50+ cans of beans stored away. Now 1+ year later, we haven't opened a single can. I don't want them to spoil and waste food. I decided to learn how to make vegetarian chili. I've now made this vegetarian bean chili a dozen of times and perfected my recipe. Best part of this recipe is how easy and quick it is to make, here is how.
